Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments.”
Psalms 133:1-2 NKJV
Hello Brethren,
What a scripture, while meditating on this scripture the first I notice was David statement:
“ how good and how pleasant it is…”
There is goodness when people , communities, brethren decide to unite. It not only good but it is pleasant too.
In other word there is pleasure when people are united.
The pleasure here is not only for God , yes God is very much pleased when we are one because we are fulfilling Jesus’ prayer in John 17:21.
It brings pleasure to us too, sharing experience, knowledge, achievement and hobbies help others improve, it inspires them, motivate them etc.
What I love the most in this scripture is that in the second part of the verse it says : “it is like precious oil upon the head of Aaron”
Aaron is the representative of a priest ( Christ being the high priest).
when a congregation is united God releases a fresh precious oil on his people through his servant.
Here we can learn three things
- a united church bring pleasure and peace into the shepherd’s heart
- An oasis of blessings, revelation, enlightenment are available when we are one.
- Deliverance is possible when we are one, because the anointing that breaks the yoke is released in the unity of the saints.
Prayer:
Father, release your precious and fresh oil on us as we are united so that the parfum of our worship will ascend to you as a sweet aroma unto you.
